Temples, shrines and gardens in Kyoto on the way from Yasaka Shrine to Philosopher’s Walk

Posted on August 16, 2020August 22, 2020 by camecamp

In January 2020 we were in Kyoto. On another day we walked down to Kiyomizu Temple and back. The next day, the weather was better and we walked from the Yasaka Shrine to the Philosopher’s Walk. We stopped at a variety of temples, shrines, and gardens. Unfortunately when we took pictures we didn’t keep track of which ones were which. We should have turned on the GPS in the camera and matched the locations later. The complete album is up at my photography site.

The places we visited on the first day included Kiyomizu Temple (清水寺), Kodai Temple (高臺寺), Maruyama Park (円山公園) and Kennen-ji (建仁寺廟). The latter has its own gallery. On the second day, we stopped at Chion-in (知恩院), Shōren-in Monzeki (青蓮院門跡), Nanzen-ji (南禪寺), Ginkaku-ji or Jisho-ji (銀閣寺). We also made it to the Philosopher’s Walk (哲學道).
