In summer 2023, we spent time time at various locations around the shore of Lake Ashi, including Hakone, Hakone Shrine, and Kuzuryū Shrine Hongū. I finally processed the photos and uploaded them. The original Lake Ashi gallery is at my website.
We visited the MOA Museum of Art in Atami on the Izu Peninsula. It’s spectacular. The escalator ride from the entrance to the exhibits by itself is worth the trip from Tokyo. The exhibits themselves are great, and the grounds are lovely. The original MOA Museum of Art gallery is up at my website.

While in Japan, we visited the Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park near Yudanaka and Shigakogen. There is an onsen there for monkeys. We recently had an opportunity to visit Portola Redwoods State Park. Many of the bridges were closed, and some trails were impassable because of slides, so we didn’t get to explore as much as we would have liked. The full Portola Redwoods State Park gallery is at my Smugmug site.
I created a new gallery of photos from recent our visit to Big Basin Redwoods State Park. I hope we have a chance to return. The forest there was hit by a fire a few years ago and is in the process of recovery.
I created a new gallery with photos of the Ravenswood Open Space Preserve. Most of the photos are of birds, especially waders, but also small birds like finches perched on fences.

Sometimes I bring my camera to the office at CASBS and take pictures of the wildlife. Mostly it is turkeys, squirrels, woodpeckers, lizards, and deer.
