Yasaka Shrine, Kyoto on New Year’s Eve 在八坂神社过阳历除夕

We spent the end of December 2019 and beginning of 2020 in Japan. We arrived in Kyoto on New Year’s Eve and spent most of the evening in and around the grounds of the Yasaka Shrine. The original Yasaka Shrine gallery at my website is here.

Kanamaru-za, Kotohira, Kagawa, Japan (金毘羅大芝居 or 金丸座)

While in Kotohira in December 2019, we also visited Kanamaru-za, a famous kabuki theater. Apparently it is one of the oldest in Japan. It is still an operating theater and they will put on performances every year. You can also browse the photos in the Kanamaru-za album at my photography website.
